BIO 

X.O BAND formed in the fall of 1996 as a pastime among college students in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew into a Go-Go movement for students from Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia—now known as the DMV. Drawing on the distinctive Washington, D.C. sound created by the late, great Chuck Brown in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the group embraced Atlanta’s love of live music and became the city’s first established Go-Go band. 

Already an entrepreneur and the band’s primary promoter from the beginning, percussionist Norris “Woo” Wooten established X.O BAND as an official production business to promote its shows, produce records, and perform with other artists, keeping its momentum alive. As members’ commitments evolved and many pursued careers or relocated after college to the DMV and other parts of the country, Woo continued as owner and primary promoter, recruiting musicians to carry the Go-Go movement forward. 

Over the years, Woo’s collaborations with event and concert promoters and producers helped create opportunities for X.O BAND to perform with or share bills with renowned local and national artists, including Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Goapele, Common Sense, Raphael Saadiq, Joi, Sleepy Brown, Killer Mike, Tyrese, and PJ Morton. X.O BAND also performed at The FunkJazz Kafé, One Music Fest, and Sol Fusion. Woo also had the opportunity to perform with Chuck Brown himself on BET’s The Mo’Nique Show before Brown’s passing. The band continues to bring its sound to Atlanta and surrounding cities, blending Go-Go with Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, Funk, Rock, Reggae, and Caribbean music for an energetic party experience.
